Gion Matsuri main parade

So after three days of street food and sleepless nights, the parade was finally here. We sadly, now very little about the core content of the parade. Here is a link to the kyoto-guide where you can find out a lot of really great information about the festival. Although we just stopped for a few minutes on our way to language class, we were able to catch a few floats.

A few tips on the gion matsuri parade:
-It's not super packed on Shijo street, so you can pretty easily find a great spot.
-Go at any point during the 9-12 time. The festival takes so long since the floats don't turn corners. without human-assistants, so no matter when you arrive you can see a long portion of the parade.
-You cannot bike in the blocks closest to the parade, so plan to hop off and walk up to the parade.
