Political business

Although we are not allowed to be involved in political action in Japan, due to visa status and our desire to not be kicked out of the country or for Kev to lose his job, we were walking down Teramachi (big shopping area in the center of Kyoto) street and this group walked past us.

sign says, "don't kill children of fukishima"

Although we are not sure what the signs say, the English "no nukes" and "don't kill children" signs make it pretty clear that they are anti-nuclear power. Unless you've been living in a cave the last few years, you likely know why.

We have come across a few other protests with similar signs and again groups of both adults and children. based on what we have seen on what we've seen on the Internet, the 'no nuke' movement is very popular amongst some Japanese (http://www.timeout.jp/en/tokyo/event/7186/No-Nukes-2013 and http://nihongonews.wordpress.com/2013/03/11/nuke-rally-2013/).
